BLOGGING

What blogging system have you adopted and why?

Whohub

What is a blogging system? I blog on Wordpress, and I've written almost a thousand posts since 2009. If by system you mean style, the blog is mostly narrative, and sometimes expository. Memoir style.

I started with blogger and liked it - what I started to dislike was Google. When they wanted me to give them my cell phone number I moved the blog to Wordpress.

So far I've been able to make it work although my earlier posts all require re-formatting. I won't be doing that because it'll send far too many messages to my subscribers, so I live with the imperfections. :)

I'm not sure what you mean by blogging system. I use Blogspot to host my site and I use Rafflecopter for contests.

When Albotas first launched, we used Joomla. It was terrible and we hated it, so we switched to WordPress and that's where the site stayed for a few years. After several server issues and two separate instances where we lost ALL of our articles, we switched servers. When traffic started getting out of control, server costs started getting expensive, so I made the decision to sacrifice what I'd spent over a year rebuilding and just make the move to Tumblr.

Tumblr definitely has it's upsides and downsides, but I really like the build-in audience of people who can share your articles on their own pages. We currently average 100 reblogs per post and are getting about 200-300 new Tumblr followers each day.

I use blogger, mostly because that is where I started and now the idea of everything I would have to do to switch to a new platform is mind boggling

I use blotspot. it was recommended and so far I find it excellent.

Twitter. Is that blogging? You don't have a category for Twittering. Maybe it's in your unpublished interviews drawer.

I adopted Twitter because I'm an unpublished manuscript. I don't have a lot to say. Plus I don't have hands so I have to rely on the charity of others to get my tweets typed.

Initially I've adopted blogger, since it's free, since it paid me a decent sum of money I moved to WordPress. WordPress gives a professional look to my website.

I use Blogger or blogspot.com by Google. It is very easy to use and allows me to import media via gadgets for a clean design in addition to the chronological posts. The gadgets are shown on the top level at all times, and can be used to highlight youtubes or other media. In addition, Google indexes the posts for worldwide searches, and has a good web analytic engine built in to show pageviews by country, operating system and browser.

I chose Blogger because it is free and easy. I've also signed up on various social media sites like -

https://twitter.com/DerekFreiman1 and

http://www.facebook.com/derek.freiman.1

I also am trying out Pinterest since I post a bunch of photos of the garden. http://pinterest.com/derekfreiman/

Like most blog on the internet, I use Wordpress.org it's the best, easiest, powerful and open-source system.
