What is your opinion of the rise in popularity of plastic surgery and implants?
It is so very sad as a reflection of our priorities
People are more conscious about how they look and likewise, there is a growing number of medical practitioners in the field of aesthetic surgery, thereby making the cost reachable by middle income group.

Would you rather condemn a person to lead a life of self-hatred and self-loathing. While there are many cases where the plastic surgery or implant was gotten for no real good reason, there are very many other cases where it is important and justified.
Disgusting.
Any woman with breast implants is no friend of mine.
There is, so far, a five percent increase in plastic surgery in 2012 over 2011. I have no idea how much of it is elective. I don't think that's a terribly significant statistic at any rate.

This is me, shaking my head.
People use even less portions of our brains than originally thought.
No seriously, it just shows me that anthropologically and sociology-wise, our culture for whatever stupid reason values these items, no different from an African tribe stretching necks or tattoo-ing men's faces after battle. It's a sign of sexiness for potential mating to further the species at its most basic level, yet it's bizarre and creepy on a real-world level. Maybe we'll die out soon and not many other cultures will learn of this...
I think it speaks to the rise of vanity in our culture. I once read if people would spend as much time preparing themselves on the inside as they do on the outside they would have the desired effect they are seeking. That being said, to each their own. Who am I to judge people for doing what makes them feel happy.
It's their freedom to undergo these things. The good thing is, it gives plastic surgeons their job! |
