What role does technology play in your creative process?
It provides some handy research options and great execution tools, but it doesn't really play a role in my creative process. Creativity happens in the mind, not on a computer.
aside from photography as reference material, very little
Well, only computer and cameras! I used to take the photos of my creations and then put them in the computer and then post it on my blog.
It hardly plays any role at all, apart from the means of listening to music, which is something that often inspires me to paint. As a whole, I work with traditional media and only use technology to adjust the quality of the scanned image of my original works.
Technology is great for research, although I believe that you should see something in person to better understand structure, lighting, etc. However, if I am unable to travel around the world to witness something first hand, the internet is great for getting knowledge on whatever it is you need to design. I really love using the Adobe programs or Corel Painter to start and/or finish a project. If I'm in a time crunch with deadlines, it is a a lot easier to "paint" a concept or landscape in Photoshop or Painter and send the file, then to paint with acrylics or watercolor, take a photo (sometimes) and send the pieces via snail mail.
It allows my followers to view my embroidery and the great part is that I can
be viewed from all over the world, without wasting paper and ink ( great on
the enviroment too )
More than I'd like sometimes. I work in photoshop CS4 with a tablet for some of my best work, and of course, run the entirety of Aershaa from my home computer.
Technology is very important to me. Obviously there is the use of the internet to put out my work, communicate with others and gain inspiration from but also I use cameras to take photographs of strange objects or of me modelling a pose, for reference purposes but mostly, when technology plays a role in my creative process the most, I will use a computer to create a digital painting.
the technology comes after i the proces of realisation , the creative proces is intelectual.
Technology is extremely important in my artwork in order to keep up with all of the advances in our society.
i am a self taught mac girl and my computer and digital camera play a huge role in my art. I use them to document the creative process, connect with clients, create a portfolio, build a website, make mock-ups for projects and much more.
By utilizing theses amazing tools I am able to sell a painting in both Europe and Arkansas without leaving my studio.
I've recently started using Twitter and am an avid user of Facebook. Both are great networking tools that have allowed me to connect with clients and create a broader network of potential clients.
I am continually inspired by the art that I see online. The friendship of other artists is valuable as an artist's life is often an isolated one. I have made enduring friendships with some artists from other countries.
One particular web site comes to mind and has been a constant source of information and inspiration for me. It is Robert Genn's The Painter's Keys. http://painterskeys.com/
I am the founding member of the Carolina Mixed Media Art Guild and without technology, it would be much more difficult to correspond, to organize activities and to expand our reach in our areas of interest.
Well, again, music is handy to set a pace or a vibe. I'm usually after a cinematic image. So, anything that helps me in that sense is a good thing. My camera, for sure. First it was a little Pentax optio, now it's a Canon Rebel EOS XSi. I also do some post work in the computer. Punching up colours, contrast, things like that.
Even if I'm using a traditional medium like pen and ink, technology plays quite an important role. Google is often the first or second port of call when I'm researching a topic for a piece of work. Even though I will then use other forms of research like musuems or libraries.
I often work from digital photos that I've taken and although I don't manipulate them I do sometimes draw from them. If I'm making a film then I'm totally dependant on IT to record and then edit.
A huge role. I am a technologist and have played a pioneering role in software design over the last 17 years. |
