I am in favor of legalization of many things, as long as they are regulated. For example, we legalized the intake of alcohol, but we set solid laws about not operating motor vehicles while intoxicated. These laws come with appropriately severe penalties when someone who chose not to use an intoxicant is hurt due to the carelessness of someone who chose to use one.

Perhaps. It seems to me a good idea that legalization would help fight the illegal trade and mafia. Sugar could do lots of damage to health yet it is not just sold freely, sugary stuff is even advertized for children!
Drug use and prostitution are two important elements of black markets that promote human trafficking and exploitation. It is with great alarm to folks who have been exploited to see it legalized. What could possibly go wrong?
NO. These laws were put into place for a reason. There is no such thing as "victimless" crime. Not only do drugs and prostitution destroy the vulnerable in our communities, society - who we are as a people - suffers when standards are lowered to gutter levels.

Yes as long as the person made the choice to engage in the act on their own free will. I believe then it becomes a privacy issue, one not to crowd real jails with.
