|Do you defend urban graffiti?
YES! I think urban graffi is awesomeness. Unless its to promote your gang. Bloods cripes, it all gets on my nerves.
Sometimes. It's circumstantial. If it truly is art, rather than just someone's "tag" (their graffiti name), and if it's not too imposing, or on someone's property then I suppose it should be allowed. But it is definitely circumstantial.
Yeah! Graffiti is modern art. Freedom of Expression.
Only if the artist owns the wall on which he practices his art.
Yes, when it is tastefully done and not just a paint-can scrawl on the back fence.
Only in one sense. If the surface being tagged needs a new paint job anyway.....
I certainly don't plan to get in its way. Oh you mean, as art? Well, everyday decoration from centuries earlier is now highly prized, and uncontroversially so. Give it a few centuries, then, and I'm sure present-day urban graffitti will be able to compete at that level.
No, it is an imposed visual violence, very machoistic and simple in its message
I don't defend it but it's inevitable and irrepressible in a way. I've spent many of the last years in Berlin, Germany. If you've been there, you know why I say that. It's everywhere and simply a part of the whole.
Urban art (graffiti) is an expression of me in my place. The culture of "owners/corporations/polititions, and their laws and "law enforcers" don't want it to reminde people that the place is really theirs. Thus it is suppressed. So, we should celebrate it.
Yes. IF it brings something beautiful to an otherwise bland or ugly place. NOT on our street signs or when used for gang territory markings.
Depends. Senseless tagging: I'd love to spray you and give your hair a change of color. Actual efforts to put something beautiful in a location where there was nothing: go for it!
No. They actually send important messages to the society.
Yes and I love it. In fact my twitter background and my myspace background of examples of it. It would be awesome if I could do my own and take a picture...but I abide by the law so I won't be doing that.
