Do you believe in affirmative action?

Whohub

Not sure but probably the answer is affirmative.

I so wish we didn't even have to consider it as a term. Colour, sex, religion etc etc etc should have no bearing on a person's abilities, suitability etc... but we are governed by a heavily weighted batch of white men from a similar background who continue to make the decisions that work against everyone else - so this is a tough one.

Yes

By affirmative action, do you mean rounding up every Politician and Air Dropping them over Afghanistan minus parachutes? If so, then the answer is yes, I am all for it!!

NO!

America is the land of opportunity, of course I believe in affirmative action. I also believe in an adequately funded public education and Pell Grants for all those who qualify because of economic circumstances.

Yes.

As the mother of multi-racial children, absolutely NOT. To believe that my children require such a demeaning law is to believe that they are somehow inferior to their peers. They are not. They are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves and do not need society to pat them on the head and talk down at them.

Yes, because the US still abounds with systemic racism.

No. I believe it implies that the ancestors of others are less worthy than others, even today. I think everyone is equal, regardless of color, disability, gender, etc. The essence of affirmative action implies that even today, some people need extra help because they aren't as worthy as others intrinsically, which I do not believe to be the case.

I wish they weren't necessary, but sadly they are and must be applied.
