Do you have colleagues with whom you share techniques, tricks, ideas, etc.?
Yes. It's healthy for you to always learn from others and to be a help to them. Sometimes they can be a pain, because you don't want to hear that your characters whole left arm and torso is horrible out of proportion. But sometimes a little thing that someone says to you can ignite and inspire a whole career.
i have many friends who are designers and illustrator types
I have my classmates and we feed off of each others work. Also my professors introduces new techniques in which I try and incorporate into my own way of working.

Absolutely, yes!
Yes, we're really lucky at my uni to have a lovely big studio decked out with most of the stuff we need. So, there are people around all the time. To be honest, I don't know what I'm going to do without the studio environment once I graduate! It's really handy to be able to ask the opinion of others, and bounce ideas around. I'm so fortunate to be part of a group of people that are so generous with their time and energy. In some respects my classmates have taught me more than my tutors!
My little sister, who is a formally trained painter is my measuring stick, as well as my mother, who is a cosmetology teacher and my twin sister who has an eye and feel for all things witty, bizarre and grand.
digital delight shares! thanks niel! :D
Not that much anymore, at college we all used to show each other new techniques and photoshop tuts but now I mostly search for them online.
Between web resources and trade conventions, you can't do enough networking.
I have a great illustrators group. they are very helpful and encouraging1
Yes. I work for a greeting card company, so I often discuss digital techniques with the other artists I work with.
Of course! Lots of college buddies who I live near and keep in touch with daily.
Yes, I work with a great group of people at PinUSA. We share discoveries and techniques with each other all the time. We also inspire each other and share ideas for both commercial and personal art projects. We're like a little artistic family.
I used to at college but sadly not any more. I think we all used to learn from each other. |
