What new techniques have you been experimenting with lately?
adding structures, using sand and other materials in my illustrations with aqrylic
My main focus has been painting... but I'm trying to explore more of a style that focuses on drawing.
I'm always experimenting, but the figurative illustrations I've been doing recently is certainly a new area for me.
I have been doing lots of layering and playing with transparency in the digital step of my art. And I am always learning more about clarity and impact while editing film and animation, which helps me in the illustration world too.
At the moment I am experimenting more in 3D design and am trying to get to grasps with Maya and Motion. I eventually want to get into visual effects and motion graphics.
alot of mixed media and incorporating 3-D elements into an illustration.
Scratch inking.
Drawing and inking by hand, and coloring with the computer, using Photoshop. I supposing I am playing around more with how I draw, the level of detail and the angles I've been working in, as well as the compositions themselves.
I am trying to incorporate the computer a little more even though my knowledge there is limited, and I've even created some new sets using my rubber stamps.
Before I made my collages by hand, but since I have my own computer and scanner I make a lot of collages in photoshop. I keep learnig new things and I like that it spears time.
I've begun layering up different textures - making them translucent in Photoshop. This seems to give the images greater depth and vibrancy of colour.
I've also been using copyright-free stamp shapes and copyright-free patterned papers to add interesting backgrounds to my images.
Watercolour mostly - lifting out dried paint and using white gouache as masking
Lately, I have been experimenting with gothic art. I have also began an entire series of masked characters with me as the protagonist.
Colored Pencil line art is what I've been up to lately. I'd also like to try a new painting technique using Acrylic paint and water color paper.
I've been doing a lot of collage type work and experimenting with a variety of techniques. I think I'm starting to settle on the collage/cut paper route. It's the most fun for me. |
