What new techniques have you been experimenting with lately?

Whohub

recently i have been trying to incorporate more colour in my illustrations. and i used to use mono printing quite a lot in my work and would like to start with that again.

I work in acrylic and digital media. I have be dabbling in oil after a long separation from it. I am also just discovering frisket for masking. It's awesome. Check it out.

Watercolors. Who knew they were so versatile? It's one of the more entrancing things I've come across. I've also been playing music a lot more lately. The secret is to pursue it with sincerity!

beeswak! love it!

I have been dabbling in some experimental spontaneous paintings of late. This is really only to give me a break from the hard-slog of illustration. Putting paint and ink on a canvas, and not knowing where it's going to go, is a nice change sometimes, and people seem to like the finished paintings. Although my passion still stays with illustration!

I have been trying out my wacom tablet.

I've been using the different collage techniques I've learned, in combination with narrative subjects. For example, I created a template for an old looking comic book in illustrator, printed that out backwards and transferred it to a board, to give it a distressed look once transferred. Once I saw that the technique worked, I repeated it twice, and those images became my mailer series.

Digital and multi-media.

I did collage for the first time. I did not like it too much.
I also have been learning a lot about graphic design and layout lately.

Loosening up.

When I bring a concept into the painting stage, I no longer transfer a facsimile to the painting surface (by whatever means), I now directly draw the concept onto the surface with the paint.

Acrylic on different surfaces.

I've been working at getting better with all traditional media that I use. I'm always experimenting with new techniques and creating textures that I can transfer to the digital medium.

Lately I've been into charcoal sketching and exploring the human figure, which has helped my illustration enormously.

I've been working on on digital painting on the computer for quite sometime now. It's more fun to draw on a digital format.
