What new techniques have you been experimenting with lately?
Water colors. And I'm trying to embrace a more sketchy, less clean look.
More uses of black in my drawings.
Digital painting.
I have been trying to incorporate textures into my vector based work
and im also trying out a more realistic style of illustration
I rarely paint in oil so I have been using that quite a bit recently. I'm also experimenting with textures, whether using cut out materials or achieving it through paint and pallet knives. I'm also playing with hand drawn type. I like the use of organic type as an element and as a texture.
Doing all my artwork digitally - I'm starting from scratch in Illustrator or photoshop a lot more these days. I am also learning 3D software so I can improve my illustration.
I am constantly experimenting. I love to. It is how I find myself in my work. As of right now I am using water soluble crayons and oil paint. It it working out pretty good.
I have been making shadow box scenes lately.
I've become enthralled in the "crafting" world. Not necessarily scrapbooking or paper crafts but I've started using felt and wood for different fun projects.
Scanning found images to add to my patterns.
I mainly work in photoshop so I'm always looking up different tutorials on how to improve my lighting, inking techniques and ways to make my backgrounds look better. I'd like to start working in corel painter along with photoshop once I can afford painter.
I'm always pushing myself. Lately, I guess I've been really pushing my use of temperature (warm and cool colors).
Actually in this 2 years I am aiming for those digital illustration drawing techinique, I found out that digital way of drawing can easy to get those effect that you want. Learn those Matte painting, and explore a lot of style, like those splashes of paint brushes, gesso effect, and those acrylic on canvas that kind of artwork feeling.
