Too many to mention, but Noel Ford (a hero of mine) bought me dinner recently so he shot to top of my list
The late, great, Larry (Terence Parkes). Currently I love the combination of great humour and writing displayed by Roger Kettle and Andrew Christine through national cartoon strips Beau Peep, and Horace.
Too many to mention, but my favourite comic artist when I was growing up was Robert Nixon who used to draw characters like "Frankie Stein" and "Kid Kong". Now I really enjoy the work of Simon Thorpe who draws for Viz.
There are a number of great political cartoonists but Gerald Scarfe and Charles Griffin have had the greatest influence on me.
The two main influences on me as a kid were Quentin Blake and Paul Cemmick. Reading books illustrated by them became an absolute joy. Today I admire many people, most of whom have become good friends, people like Arnold Roth, Sam Gross, Tom Cheney and Frank Cotham in the States. In the UK I greatly admire Ronald Searle, Mike Williams and too many others to mention.
hmmm....I love Rockwell, Frank Frazzeta, Leonardo DaVinci...can't get anymore Genuis than these guys...:)
My favorite artists and illustrators of all time are (in no particular order):
Leonardo da Vinci
Gustav Klimt
Hyung Tae Kim
Norman Rockwell
H.C. Lyandecker
Hermann Mejia
There are so many more, but this all I can think of off the top of my head.
An eclectic bunch which [today] comprises Gerald Scarfe, Norman Thelwell, James Gillray, Ken Reid, Steve Bell, Ralph Steadman, John Tenniel, David Low, Dave Brown, Bill Stott, Peter Brookes, Ray Lowry, Ronald Searle, Posy Simmonds, John Jensen and many others. Tomorrow's list will be sightly different.

TIM and GREG HILDEBRANDT I just love how they paint, and I did study under TIM for one year, and Tim was a friend of mine, and I really miss him since he has passed away, he was such a nice guy, and liked a lot of the same things that I did. |
