|Have you completed formal art studies, or are you self-taught?
My degree in Textile Design was obtained from Canterbury College of Art in England, and I also spent a couple of years at the Kunstgewerbe Schule in Basel Switzerland. Now I take lessons at the Apple store!
I've done both. I have a dregree in art education but there was a recession
when I got out of college, so I went in the direction of graphics and it was
self taught and classes from then on.
BFA in Illustration at Otis College of Art and Design 1998.
I am still learning new things everyday.
I have a BA in Art and an MFA in Painting/Printmaking. However, I never took an illustration class. I learned about illustration from doing my first picture book. Now i teach illustration and i teach all the stuff i had to learn on my own.
I have been painting since I could hold a brush in my hand. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2004, magna cum laude, with a BFA in Communication Arts/Illustration and a minor in art history. I also attended the Illustration Academy and studied in Florence, Italy at the Medici school of the arts.
I have completed my BFA in Illustration and Sequential Art at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. I have always been drawing; I am influenced by the cartoons and comic books I read as a child.
Yes, I graduated from Maryland Institute, College of Art in 1997 with a BFA degree in Visual Communications:Graphic Design/Illustration. Before that I spent two years at Savannah College of Art and Design in GA. Since then I have taken several Continuing Studies courses in Maryland at MICA but would like to eventually enroll in the graduate program at the Schuler School of Fine Art in Baltimore, MD.
I have been self taught, drawing and creating art since age five. I never stop learning new techniques.
I am a graduate of the Academy of Art University located in San Francisco. My degree was in painting and drawing. Initially I started out as an illustration major, but I decided I wanted to learn oil painting techniques, so I changed my major to immerse myself in something new. Of course now, 9 years after I graduated, I'm doing illustration work and haven't touched oils in about 4 years!
A mix of both. I took some art in high school, and completed a studio art minor in college, but a lot of my illustration techniques are self-taught, and I never went to art school or anything like that.
Yes, I completed my BA in Animation with honours in September 2008.
I am a graduate from San Jose State University in San Jose , CA with a BS degree in graphic design concentrating on illustration. My computer skills are all self-taught on the job.
As one friend and fellow artist observed, everyone is self- taught to a certain degree. I went to the Rhode Island School of Design and absolutely loved the Illustration Department there (interesting fact, I went to RISD thinking I was going to do Apparel Design!). I didnít realize until after graduation that our teachers were trying to make us the best artists we can be no matter where life took us. They balanced illustration with fine art, a sense of entrepreneurship, and the confidence to proceed in several professions, not just traditional Illustration. It's a smart way to run a department.
Washtenaw Community College
Kansas City Art Institute
I always loved to draw, and enjoyed being an art student since high school. I have an associate degree in Fine Arts and have studied graphic design and computer imaging, but much of my professional experience comes from working with other creative people.
