Must someone be the leader or boss in order for a creative team to function well?
I think this depends on the personalities of who you are working with - some people are natural leaders. I think it's always good to have someone who can bring everything together and lead the way to form conclusions. I think for a creative team to work well you need a mixture of people who can contribute to the team but also respect each others ideas... and listen to others!
Probably, otherwise you get Indie Rock.
I think so. There has to be someone who can organize the ideas everyone is coming up with, you know, spin them together to fit just right. That is not taking away from anyone's creativity, it is merely merging it.
It depends on the team members--and the gender of the person answering this question! I think a man would feel that there needs to be a leader; whereas, a woman is more likely to feel that the work goes better when all are equally heard and no one is "in charge."
not sure I'm not sure if ive ever worked with a group. i would love to though.
I don't think that a creative team necessarily needs to have a "leader" or "boss" to function well. If the team is in synch, and each member trusts every other member to do his or her part well, what is required then is for all parties to have the same vision and the same goal. My experience is that this idyllic state is difficult but not impossible to achieve. It is a process that takes time, something that is in short supply. In such cases a team leader may be required to keep everyone focused and on task.
There can be a leader I suppose, not a boss. I work alone but I have taught Sumi-e classes and it does help to have someone to keep things from getting too out of hand in that situation.
Not always some times synergy is equal forces working with no leader.
It can be a leader of whatever. The class leader. The task force leader. The family leader. The committee leader. The most dangerous thing in the world is uncontrolled behavior of leader. In order to have a creative team, please be a leader on their heart.
I dont think so. I believe that every human being has his own creativity. We could always work as a team without a boss. Actually I am not sure do I know even one artist who likes bosses :-)
Not necessarily. What is most important is that the team share a common vision and be able to cooperate well.
no, i;d like to think that there is peer mentoring, and leave the ego out
Yes. Being accountable to a team, and a team leader helps creative people be efficient. |
