How do you avoid repeating yourself, or falling into formula? How do you stay fresh?

The seeds of the solution are in the problem. Every problem is unique, so every solution should be unique. What I don't do is walk around with a "solution" in my pocket looking for a "problem" to apply it to. I know that works for some people, but it's not what I do. I do however bring a basic process to problem solving. That is always with me.

Since I make jewelry I rarely make the same thing twice. I find it much more interesting to create something fresh and new each time. It may be more time consuming but it is far more rewarding.

I love trying new things and doing a few blog challenges always helps as sometimes they require you not to just make cards and it keeps my mind going.

I try and do as many things as i can, i do camping if i need to find out more about camping, i study a culture's history if i need to know about it.

I will do whatever i can to do what i need, so that i can write, and draw, and feel the things that i need to invoke in others, or else it just wont come through.

Being able to see a pattern develop is key to staying fresh. Also, being able to view life through other people's eyes is a big help.

I will check the design from other source for more inspiration.

I'm trying new things all the time even if this gets in the way of accomplishing some of them.

For a lot of my hand dyed fabric I do need to follow the formula as I'm trying to repat colourways if not patterns. I do allow myself play time with colour. When dyeing my spacedyed threads I play around with colour combinations. I rarely repeat them.

It is easy to stay fresh, there are always new fabric trends, I am always going to the quilt shops in my area to see the latest fabric arrivals. I attend shows through out the year to see what the up coming trends are going to be.

I said so;every day has itīs own charm, you just have to look very carefully!

There are so many images in my mind trying to get out I think like the world of nature that surrounds me I'll never run out of creative ideas

it's hard sometimes to write new things as we all go through periods when we feel in a certain way and it does not pass too fast. i read, read, read and read. and because of that i get the chance to think of new things. and also, i always create scenes in my mind and at the end of the day write a list of them and when i get stuck i get them rethink my state at the time. i also mix literature with philosophy, as i am very keen on both, and philosophy always keeps things fresh as it is so vast.

By observing work along the same lines as my own and similar techniques, new ways of doing things and finishing products can be derived from this. With products changing, especially in the wood finishing department because of the introduction of water based materials it is always good to observe, experiment and try new techniques. As for being fresh, in the restoration trade there is always different jobs on and not a whole lot of repetition

I make it a point to remain innovative, set my previous ideas as my competitors...there by bring out new ideas and stay fresh.

I take a look from the other side...
