Your mind is your work tool. How do you take care of it?
Plenty of reading and math. Even tho both are very formal exercises, they keep your brain working. And plenty of THC.
I feed it daily by reading, questioning, and exploring. I also let it rest by giving myself the permission not to think so hard at times.
letting it rest and surfing!
We keep a shared blog which allows us to exchange ideas in the periods when we're not rehearsing. We blog all our dreams but we also blog ideas and work away at creative problems using this medium.
High octane beer.
Sometimes I don't! It never seems to stop working; I have often said that I wished that I could just take my brain out of my head for a couple of hours, put it on a holding stand, and just get a break from all the thoughts and ideas that run through it! When I do get overwhelmed, I focus on taking a walk, driving my car with the windows down and great music on, meditating or doing yoga. All of these things help me to restore myself and get a little rest.
by constantly making use of it either by doing work or doing something for leisure.
I constantly feed it. I read, read, read, listen and watch. And I try to do more sports, cause getting older, I find more and more truth in the saying : mens sana in corpore sano.
My mind is my biggest tool. And it never stops. I am always being told to switch off and relax, wish I could. Even when I am on holiday my brain is looking at things and working out solutions and business plans. I exercise my brain constantly and it does eventually reach capacity and I crash. This then forces me to take it easy for a few days, but even then I am continuosly thinking. I use sites like www.rightsideofthecurve.com for various pieces of information and for tools to get me going.
I believe the artist shouldn't do drugs or drink heavily and take good care of it with nutrition, exercise, and importantly, discipline of orderly thought. Not to think pessimistic, negative thoughts, but to be an optimist opportunist, taking and seizing opportunity. Psychiatric pils are not for artists and they should refrain from prozac and psychotropics, and use proper health for mental well-being.
I have a regular yoga and meditation practice. Meditating helps me to find clarity.
my mind is fluctuaring allways and now as I get a footmassage its working as it should. I do sports daily and I eat healthy even when I am sure I am living in a simulator I know its a biological one now. |
