What are you working on now?
Agathon's Daughter--suspense in ancient Athens.
Here's a short description:
Born a bastard and a slave, Hestia has a gift—the power to read people’s hearts. This gift brings her notoriety and takes her on journey through the upper echelons of Athens. Sold to Lycurgus, a prominent statesman with sadistic tendencies, she becomes his consort. As Hestia’s wealth and fame increase, so does her despair. Determined to escape her cruel master, she faces enemies at every turn, but the fiercest enemy she faces is herself. To gain freedom, she must unravel the mystery of her past and confront the demons in her own heart.
Right now, I am working on several scientific/medical writing tasks as well as a semi-fictional piece.
A change from cook books. The next one is aimed at younger readers although I think will also be read by adults. It is based on a true story about a cat who adopts two humans and raises her family with them. Sadness and joy but I am pleased with the progress so far.
Book number two in the Sam Jenkins series, A LEPRECHAUN’S LAMENT is about 98% finished. In a few days, I’ll be prepared to send out letters or submissions. It’s loosely based on a case I supervised in the 1980s. To paraphrase Jack Webb, only the names are changed to protect the guilty. And I added a beautiful girl or two.
I’m also roughing out another novel that starts with county deputies finding a murdered New York gangster in Tennessee. Jenkins responds to the morgue and learns from a detective that they found a slip of paper in the decedent’s pocket with Sam’s name and phone number. Then characters from his past begin showing up.
I recently finished a children's book and am also in the middle of a novel.
I'm editing my second novel "Flying Lessons" and writing a third that is still untitled.
Final edits are being completed to my second 'pet' novel and should be out the end of May...just in time for the tourists. It's titled: "Pets in Paradise". This is one of the most fun writes I've done. It should be a Disney movie.
I am currently working on Guns Of The Range Land, Book 2 of my Savage Land Series. Ride The Savage Land, Book 1 of the series, has been accepted for publication by Wild Child Publishing, but a release date has yet to be determined.
have lots of stuff going through my mind but not writing atm I'm searching for inspiration
Twenty years ago I interviewed a bi-racial couple who escaped racism in the U.S. by moving from Indiana to Mexico City in the early 1950s. I never could find a publisher for the book I wrote about them, but their story wouldn't let go of me.
In early March I set aside the novel I was working on and returned to BEFORE IT WAS LEGAL: the story of a black-white marriage (1945-1989). It's a compelling love story, with romance, struggle, betrayal, and reconciliation.
I am working on the first novel in a three book series. Each will stand alone, but will contain many of the same characters and be in the same location. The first is in the critique stage and the second one has been started.
I am working on a Christian fiction novel. It's loosely based on my own life. I wanted to show how I believe God uses the tragic and painful events in our lives to mold and shape us into stronger people capable of facing challenges that would've otherwise overwhelmed us.
I’m currently editing my Nanowrimo from 2010 (which badly needs a new title), a historical fiction set in the 1910s, 1980s and present day about a family from the perspectives of the grandfather and two brothers. I’m between poems and match previews but it’s likely to be a Celtic match this week followed by a Rangers one next week, which tends to be the way I do match previews.
Several non-fiction projects based around specific projects, blog topics, products, or services. I just wrapped up another ghost written fictional work about giant sea creatures.
I have three feature film scripts ready to go, lots of short film scripts too. I have three plays written that I'm sending to theatres at present. It takes a lot of time, money and paper to do it yourself. I need to approach more agents!
I have a short film called 'Rocky Road' in post-production that will be doing the short film festival rounds in 2013. I'm really proud of it, and hopefully that will get some attention and lead to even bigger and better things.
Who knows? It'll be a fun ride, either way. |
