|What are you working on now?
Rewriting my memoir, Screen Test. I finished a rough draft and am now in the final stages of restructuring it.
I am in-between books at the moment (it is late March, 2009) and hope to get started on another work soon. The site (BlueCollarDollar.com), the blogs (RetirementwithaPlan.wordpress.com, MutualFundsInvesting.blog.com), and some projects with different forms of blog writing for businesses have my attention at the moment.
That keeps me busy for the time being.
I am working on a book/eBook on skincare and make-up as I have been in the beauty business for over 20 years. I am also in the process of writing a book/eBook on art.
I'm not exactly "working" on anything. I'm trying different things and seeing which I am most satisfied with.
My book on a real story.
I'm writing "Gemini, The Power of the Sea," the second book in the Gemini series.
I'm almost finished with revisions on "The Power of the Light" (1st book).
I just finished a paranormal erotic novella, "Enchanted Mountain - The Lion, The Leopard and the Wolf" released August 2009 from Siren-Bookstrand Publications. The title is longer than the story.
My contemporary work was stuck in travelogue mode until "Sultry Santorini Sunset", an erotic trip to the exotic Greek Island, turned into a paranormal menage with more that could almost replace the trip itself.
These short eBooks provide instant gratification when you're in a mood for a specific genre and you want to devour the book in a single day. They're perfect for the 'Instant Gratification' person.
So I manage to keep my plate full and this is a question I love updating... It means I'm showing progress!
A historical crime novel set in South Wales 1904 with Buffalo Bill as a character. It's sound absurd but the great man really did visit the South Wales coalfields with his Wild West Circus and a gunfight in Taff Street is too good an opportunity to miss. I'm about a half of the way through the first draft and progressing well.
I have two major projects underway. One is a novel that is about half-finished, based on some cultural mythology from New Mexico, where I'm from.
The other is my PhD research: writing a novel/series of interlinked short stories with the intent to adapt to digital format, adapting to digital format, and publishing both versions in parallel. For more on this project, including a lot of notes on the process, trials, and tribulations, you can follow my blog at http://lyleskains.com/Blog.html
Short stories. Three short film scripts are in various stages of development in Europe and Canada. I've had two major directors read my treatments this year on one script. I am re-writing my first script into a caper film to meet the new demands for short and sweet films in Hollywood. (under $20M). I am aiming for an agent and manager for my seven scripts by the end of the year.
I've written some novels. After publishing TOURISTS I realized that I had to rewrite the others. So I'm doing that now and submitting short pieces to web sites.
An e-book for a martial arts program called World Dragon Kenpo.
I am working on a narrative non-fiction about the loss of my vision. It is in three books, the diagnosis, the rehab program and the uphill climb to my writing career. I go into explicit details about my sixteen week stay at a rehabilitation program for the blind. I didn't want to go. I felt people would be uneducated. I was a professional after all. What could I possibly have in common with "those people?" I was wrong. They were all ordinary people with extraordinary problems...just like me. I met doctors and teachers, nurses and engineers. Some had the added burden of facing marital problems because a spouse could not or would not face the blindness. It was an incredible journey filled with heart-wrenching pain. We laughed and we cried. We bonded in a way words could never express. I came out a better person with the courage to move on in a sighted world I was once part of. What didn't kill me made me stronger.
I am seeking an agent for my two completed novels. And I am freelancing as an arts journalist. I also hosts a healing music blog, The Whole Music Experience.
I am working on my father's life story
My first novel: 'Shooting Stray Dogs'. I am half way through a first draft. I also write a food blog: http://1hundredmiles.blogspot.com/
