What has been your experience with publishers?
Virtually none.
As I have said, all the replies I have had have been rejections, usually in the form of a generic letter. I don't want to say that these interactions have had a negative impact on me, however, I can affirm that it is very disheartening
I have received some hugely encouraging rejections, and I have met some really lovely publishers.
I have had various experiences with publishers, most okay.
Ironically I have always found it easier to get a publisher than an agent.
I have had a lot of books published (none are vanity publications) and have recently been trying to get an agent.
I have more rejection letters from agents that I have ever had from publishers.
Any good agent reading this who wants a hard-grafting writer give me a call.
I've only been employed as a writer for two years and prior to that I wrote primarily for free with the odd freelance job here and there but as far as publishers go, as long as they are not really your manager, they are fine. I think that sometimes roles can be blurred and the responsibilities of those roles not clearly defined. This can cause issues when you're expecting a level of support from someone and you don't receive it.
Excellent
i haven't really pursued any publishers. but i was published on poetry.com for best poets of 2000
I am self-published so I can't answer.
They're easier to find than agents.
My experience collaborating with Authorhouse was brilliant. I would love to work with more publishers anytime I am given an opportunity to.
i dont have a published work cos i cant seem to get publishers... i need one badly to even agree to look at my works
How can I put it? They are very demanding.
Once I started working with them I realised being a writer is hard work. For my first book I used selfpublishing and I must admit I'm very impressed on how they worked, from start to finish. I haven't had a second's problems. For my next project I will try other publishers and see what happens. They are very strict and you need to be exceptionally good to even be considered.
Ha! Good one that. Mainstream publishers are stuck on the steam age. They drink with agents who drink with publishers. No wonder all us writers get are answering machines. Strange really that publishers don't want to deal with writers. Must be the only industry that tries to hide from the source that makes it all happen: writers.
I've got rejections coming out of drawers everywhere. Actually I tell a lie. I throw them away.
None. |
