What has been your experience with publishers?
Frustrating. An unknown author has little chance with the main line publishers. They want only to publish someone who is already well know. I use AEG publishing, which is publish-on-demand and I have to share the cost.
only one rejection for the book i found out was too rough a draft.
i dont have the confidence to sell myself. and tht is my biggest problem
I have published very little and have had very minimal experience with publishers. The one that I have talked to has been great. At the Loft, they wanted to submit my work immediately and were very accommodating.
I have one book that is being edited before being submitted for publication with Createspace.com
In my experience, they charge too much for paperbacks.
New writers without a following are a big risk!
I haven't had an experience with a professional yet.
It's all been primarily through one online publisher and the overall experience has been tolerable.
Not so well with 1 in the past.
I have not published anything yet
Our work does not involve the use of publishers, we write in order to perform. We get paid to perform, not publish.
My only experience is with the newspaper publishers I work for in my "day job".
Good. I think they're terribly overloaded. The industry as a whole is changing quickly due to outside, as well as internal factors. I've self-published my book through Booklocker.com because it was recommended by Mark Levine. But, I hope to eventuallycatch the eye of the publisher. The obstacles for self-published books are still the same, as of today.
90% of my work gets rejected, but lapwing in Belfast have published three of my collection and so has a publisher in New York and on in Bristol UK., but nothing have been sold my readers are on the internet.
I would love to say great, but I'd be lying! |
