To a certain point, is copying justifiable?

no, i hate coping and copied ideas, the world is round & the copy will meet its origin one day i belive.so create new always.

no

yea, if you need the same more then once

No. But I've been known to scan in some cool rare clip art and change it up to fit my purposes. I look at it as a form of graphic "sampling". If you change it enough to make it uniquely yours, then it's OK.

I would say we always get inspired by one or the other. copying to a certain point is not creative, something which is not creative is not justifiable at all. If we are inspired by some thing, we should do similar sort of good work not similar work.

I say "no". Being inspired by another person's work and using something from it is acceptable but you have to make it "your own". Using an artists actual work in your art is acceptable especially if you purchase it from the artist specifically for that reason.

Everything should be at least 60% original...nothing under the sun is 100%.

Imitation is fine, as long as there are distinguishable differences. Copying is not, because it robs the first artist of their work. Most of us look to some type of inspiration from time to time, but it cannot be a crutch.

Absolutely NOT.

No. You can say you like this and that about someone else's site, but I won't recreate it for you to a "T". Ever. Everything can be inspirational, but shouldn't be copied. It's illegal as shoplifting, and not too different.

Copying a style or way of execution is common, but copying someones idea or originality is not justifiable.

Depending.
If it's for satire, all the way.
If it's serious business... make sure to get the rights for it first. (I'm assuming images/video clips here.) Plagarising actual design work is kind of fail. Sure, be inspired by someone's technique, but you've still got to be you when you design. It's not just a reflection of the product, it's a reflection of yourself.

Absolutely! I feel that you work hard to create and your work should be protected.

To a point, all art is theft. There's no justification involved. You are creative, that's fine, but you've seen things that you can't un-see. They are images that are with you. There is no such thing as 100% originality in a work of art. Ever.
