What discipline do you impose on yourself regarding schedules, goals, etc.?

Whohub

I pride myself on accomplishing the goal;s I have set for myself in the time allowed.
Failure and can't are not words in my vocabulary.
I do not give up nor give in I refuse.
I will achieve any goal I have set forth.

Strictness, I have to be ridigly accurate, allowing no deviation from any project worth doing.

I impose goals for the books and articles I write.

NONE

I set a goal, I finish it. Simple really. Most of the time for me, my projects and goals are meetable, unless something interferes, usually the aspect of not having enough money.

There is no such thing as writer's block. There is no such thing as a deadline that can't be met. If you love what you do, you will do it and do it with joy and do it on time. If it's a struggle, don't do it.

I'm very undisciplined. I try to write every day, but I don't have a schedule. I write when something comes into my head and I want to write it. I have a general goal of completing a novel from first draft to finish in two years.

I write every day and keep a calendar of deadlines.

This is my most difficult struggle. I try to keep a pace of at least a few pages a day and during inactive periods, to at least read a few pages of someone else's work or to research an interesting topic I want to explore each day. When I was deep into my first novel I averaged 4-8 pages a day, but would have a few days in between of less than that or more than that. That felt like a good pace for me, personally.

I'm a full-time teacher and part-time writer. So, I try to write for at least one hour every day. If I do that, I'm satisfied.

My life is fairly unstructured right now so goals aren't a problem for me. I can imagine one day having some structure to adhere to but I don't think that is really a problem for me. I usually do what I set out to do.

Get up at 6AM, apply glue to my chair, sit, and stare at the screen until magic happens. Goal-wise: Always finish the project I'm working on.

Carry on goals. If it is not today, may be tomorrow!

When life allows, I am very disciplined.
I sit down and focus for long hours. And I avoid the phone.

But lately my job as a mother and wife has cut into my writing time. Hurricane Katrina also took a toll on my writing schedule. As did major neck surgery in 2008.

But now, as of April 2010, I am back to my writing schedule—10am ish to 5pm ish. Lunch is a yogurt at my desk. And I still pace or wash dishes when I am working out a scene in my head.

I write something every day. I try to write earlier in the day while my brain is still fresh.
