What discipline do you impose on yourself regarding schedules, goals, etc.?
Usually I find it hard to write if there isn't a goal. This is because I have a lot rattling around in my head and I'm coming up with more and more creative and even very different ideas at the same time. So if I haven't set myself a goal or a date I tend to get bored and move on before I finish, then a month or so later I'll go back and finish it off...maybe. This is one of the reasons my dream is to become a journalist. I think deadlines and goals and achievments are fantastic I love a challenge!
I'm not very disciplined. I have one day where I can devote myself to the creative impulse but have to be very strict with myself in order to be productive.
At this time, I follow no schedule whatsoever. As I'm a professional writer, when I have to produce an article, I tend to work steadily on a project once I start, and always deliver on time. As far as my own work goes, I work when I want, for as long as I want.
If you're a beginning writer, you should have some schedule. But if you think you're a writer and never seem to want to sit down to write, review your illusions. You may just be a wannabe. Real writers write.
I try to work at least six hours a day. I don't set schedules or goals for projects.
I don't have much discipline relating to schedules at this point in my life, but I'm sure they will form as I get older.
At least 3 pages a day.
None. I work best under pressure or when motivated.
I have just decided that I need to revisit this issue. I do have a schedule and I would like to tighten it up. Additionally, I write down daily goals. I also have long term goals that revisit daily.
I just regard it as a hobby... But... I don't have any schedules...
I'm very lenient towards time. I'm not worried about writing towards a deadline; I'll be rushed and produce bad writing that way. I write at my own pace, that way I know I'll only write when I really feel like it, rather than because I have to.
Can be disciplined when writing on a schedule. otherwise. writing for fun I do when I want.
I try to write every day, starting in the morning, at least a few hours. In between I take long walks to fresh my mind and body. I don't put myself a goal for the finish. The work will be finished when it's finished.
I do not like discipline (unless it is coming from a young woman wearing leather).
Sometimes I give myself a deadline to start or finish something, or to accomplish a piece of my writing. Sometimes I designate a day or time of day to write. I started my poetry blog to discipline myself to write new poetry consistently.
Sadly, I am not very disciplined...:( |
