Do you share rough drafts of your writings with someone whose opinion you trust?
More in article writing for wording than creative writing, which I usually express verbally, but I've found the former is much longer and less helpful than the numerous grammar programs out there
None of my friends are writers, but they do ask what's the latest about so I tell them.
I rarely share my drafts because my drafts usuallly messy with words, so it's hard to understand. I will only ask them, "What do you think if I...?"
Yes, My best friend and my husband.
Not the rough, rough draft. I change too often to show the absolute beginnings. Once the story is basically finished, I'll share with my daughter and two close literary friends who always....unfortunately....tell the truth. Life and the roller coaster aspect thereof has given me a turtle shell and I can readily accept constructive criticism

Up to this point I haven't (other that shoving the working draft in my husband's face a thousand times a day). I am considering sharing drafts with some of my literary tweeps (I'm at http://www.twitter.com/linc0lnpark ), though. They're extremely informed and I just LOVE twitter for allowing me to connect with so many great readers and writers!

Yes i do. I always welcome different opinions as they usually have ideas that you may have missed.
Yeah if I don't then I start having a battle in my mind. Over critisizing my work and then the creative spark fades and I'm up shit street!
i never rough draft, when the pen touches the paper...it's final!
All I have are rough drafts. :( Sometimes if I actually like the story.
Yes I do. I generally share them with a friend that I don't know well or a friend of a friend. that way the person isn't trying to spare my feeling by lying to me and saying if it is good or not, If I want you to read it then I want an honest opinion so I can improve. |
