Do you share rough drafts of your writings with someone whose opinion you trust?
Only sometimes. Very rarely.
No. I never share my work-in- progress with anyone.
I have been known to, but ultimately the only person who really knows where she is going with the script is the author herself.
Sometime, but not often
Yes, other writers and members of a writing group.
I would not share anything too rough or unformed. A reasonably mature draft is something I would share with a person whom I trust and whose opinion is useful, either as a consumer or a colleague.
No, but I write a daily blog and people are free to comment before my work is put in book form.
I find it easier to share with complete strangers. I don't want my friends to discover I'm a hopeless writer! And I also know they would be too kind to give me the proper constructive criticism I need. They know my delicate writer's ego all too well!
I do. I used to share rough drafts while I was still in the process of completing the work (like showing the first chapters of a book I was writing), but that got to be difficult, because the people I was sharing with ended up placing certain expectations on the plot and the characters that ultimately became stifling. Now I only show finished drafts. I have a few friends whose opinions I value, and they always get the first read.
Sometimes.
No.
Share rough drafts for feedback: Always. For me it is foolish to construct an entire building without finding out first whether the foundation is cracked.
I've recently started to show my rough drafts to a friend who also writes. It's amazing how much you can improve something when you have constructive criticism from someone. I don't always apply all her advice but it's helpful to see what someone else thinks needs improving or tinkering as I call it.
नहीं।
It is necessary. I share if I am satisfied with what I have done. |
