Do you share rough drafts of your writings with someone whose opinion you trust?

Whohub

Yes, a lot. Usually they like it.

Depends on the person. Even if it's someone I trust, I still am hesitant to share it. But I do share rough-drafts with my family members. So they can look over it, and see how it's going. Other then that, I really don't share rough drafts.

I always share my work with my closest friends and family before I enter any competition.

Yes! I need to in order to make sure I haven't gone completely over the deep end. Writing is about communication. We have to make sure other people understand what we are saying in our work. Some seek pride by having the meaning of their work being elusive. That sort of thing is self defeating for writers, no matter how brilliant one thinks they are.

Rough drafts, rarely. But during the progression of the story, my family becomes both sounding board and consultants.

I have a writing partner, which is a very helpful tool. He reads my rough drafts and I his.

We all make goofy mistakes, and a writing partner can help you catch them early on.

Never.

Occasionally.

That's why I ask my grandfather to edit my rough drafts. He has written several books and articles, so I definitely trust his opinion.

Yes. I like to share rough drafts with any friends or family that will take the time to provide constructive feedback. I

Very rarely. I'm a little unconventional when it comes to the guidelines. I've never developed an outline or rough drafts. If I believe the person to have a keen comand of grammar I'd be apt to ask for an opinion.

Yes, I do. My wife usually acts in this capacity because she never hesitates to offer constructive criticism.

I always hire a professional editor and go through at least three rounds of INTENSIVE editing. IMHO, good professional editors are worth every penny I pay them. Without them, I do not believe I could not have achieved the critical success of my work thus far.

Yes. I ask my wife to read everything I've written - out loud. I can tell by her voice if she gets what I'm trying to say and if she gets it, everyone else will. I hope.

Generally not. I am pretty protective of my material until I am comfortable that it is finished and complete.

Yes, when I began to write I shared my vision with my friend Bob and Mack and they liked the direction it was heading. But at that point two main discoveries were not made.
