Do you participate in competitions? Have you received any awards?
I have not participated in competitions but yes, I have received a number of awards for my writing. I have been featured in numerous conferences, published in books, magazines, journals, newsletters, and TV and Radio.
I have participated in photographic competitions and have been awarded with prizes.
No, I don't participate in competitions. I write for both my and my readers' pleasure and use my reader's comments as my guide for quality. I don't feel I have to win merits .... the reader is the judge of whether what I write is good or bad.
No - I've never felt competitions to be an appropriate vehicle for me. I simply don't see the point or purpose.
Strangely enough, not when it comes to writing. I probably think my work isn't good enough yet.
I am not big on competition, to be honest. I get unnerved when someone else is competing. The 2008 Presidential election drove me to distraction. Can you imagine what it would be like if I were waiting for word on my own competition entry?

No, I haven't sought out competitions.
When I first started writing, I participated in quite a few competitions. Several years ago, I received a second place award for best romance novel of the year for "Apache Springs" at the Florida Writer's Conference in Orlando. Before I began writing novels, I received many awards for my free-verse poetry.
Ive won a few on writers portals, but non in the real world...
I have but have had no success. I am beginning to think that people do not like what I write.
I'll compete if the judging is blind. I won a drama-writing award in grad school.
I haven't submitted anything to a competition for several years, but am considering doing so in the coming year.

No. I am a storyteller, that is what matters most to me as an author. The greatest award to receive for an author is when a book is taken to heart and the reader falls in love with the author for all time.
