Do you participate in competitions? Have you received any awards?
Gave up years ago. My stories are just too unstable, too dark, too demented. Not into happy endings. Which of course answers the next question as being postively negative!

None for both. I still regard myself as incompetent compared to many others.

So far, I've only participated in one competition, and I'm not really sure it counts. I wrote a satire and entered it into my highschool writing competition. I was named the top senior writer for 2006. It was pretty special.
Yes, for poetry only. Recently three or four poems have garnered awards in literary contests. One of them is on my web site.
Aha! Read The Frugal Book Promoter: How To Do What Your Publisher Won't! Awards provide one of the best ways to promote and they don't have to be biggies like the Pulitzer. Most of my books have won one or more awards.

No. I don't like the idea of winners and losers. If there are fifty good novels out of say a hundred entries why aren't they all all declared so? Why does it have to be cut down to one winner and 99 losers?
That's why I don't enjoy sport, it is too much about beating the other guy or the strong overpowering the weak.
These reality TV shows, in my opinion are the worst example of a pyramid with one who succeeds by stepping on all those below. And are they the 'best' person in the end. I doubt it.
