Do you participate in competitions? Have you received any awards?

In 2004 my poem, DEVIL IN THE DETAILS, took first place at the Bob Dylan Writing Contest. I've received poetry awards from the League of Minnesota Poets, the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, and the Brainerd Writer's Alliance.

I was awarded the Jonis Agee Fiction Award from Bemidji State University's Dust & Fire Anthology for my short story, COLD METAL. I've also won prizes at local and regional levels for short stories and creative non-fiction.

no- I am my own competitior

I have participated in international writing competitions and have won awards for my work.

Yes. No.

No. I work and busy with other things. Writing is my hobby.

Not any longer. Most of the majors are suspect in their politically motivated selections.

No.

Yes, I do like to compete. Its challenging and fun!

I have received awards for my poetry and recently won a State-wide contest where two of my children stories were included in a book collection by the publisher. the book is called "Dragons and Bugs, Balls and Mud". Located at www.sciartmedia

Never entered a competition, but it's not off the plate.

Competitions are no longer something I find interesting because I do enjoy writing for myself, but I might occasionally enter a short piece just because I've been inspired by a writing prompt. My work has never been popular with groups so the best I've ever done in a writing contest is to earn an honorable mention.

My first book: CREATURE OF DEATH won second place in the best novel of 2006, in the Oklahoma City writers Inc. contest. A short story titled: SWEET REVENGE won second place also.

I have participated in competitions when I was in elementary and high school. I have recieved awards for my poetry, and distinctions in the Jack A. Hamady Writing Contest. I haven't participated in anything recently.

No I have not.

I've not found much success with them and many of the reasons for that are expressly my own fault. As I mentioned earlier, I have been imprudently inventive in my screenwriting styles in favor of thematic substance over convention and norm. Yet, if you look at the writers and screenplays that win these ubiquitous ego fests, few go on to have any impact at all. The writers quickly fade into oblivion and the scripts are tossed on to the backyard burial mounds with all the others.

Some of the smaller festivals are terrific and organized by wonderful, wonderful people. The others seem to exist in some alternate universe where screenplays are fawned over, but no one ever films them. At best you get a Lifetime channel melodrama, but that's about it.

Both... NO
