Do you participate in competitions? Have you received any awards?
I don't as a rule. Basically I enter when invited.
I have received the FaithWriters Gold Seal of Approval - Outstanding Read for "A Very Special Child" and "Son of My Soul - The Adoption of Christopher" and the Books and Authors Excellence in Literature and Best Non-Fiction Book of 2007 for "Son of My Soul."
Not usually. I don't feel that writing is a contest. I have received the Golden Wings Award from my publisher. Those awards are given out at the editor's discretion. And or course my poem "The Lonely Man" received the Editor's Choice Award.
Yes, I have participated in two writing contests. "Nan's Journey" won best historical fiction of 2008 by christianstoryteller.com
My third book, "Luke's Legacy", of the Nan's Heritage Series won Honorable Mention 2009 by christianstoryteller.com in the unpublished category. It is in the process of submission for publication.

Yes, I have participated in competitions and no I have never been a winner. I hesitate to compete in competitions that require large monetary entry fees and a copy of my book. The ones I find enjoyable and fun are the ones that do not require a fee, word count is limited usually not to exceed 750 or 1,500 words. I find these to be valuable because of the limited word count. The contest usually provides a writer's prompt and you run with it. It's a literary amusement park!

In the past I have recieved many rewards from writing competitions. I don't tend to enter them any more.
I have not seriously participated in competitions. There is no real reason for this. I have received an award for my poetry and intend to publish a book of poetry in the future. |
