Do you participate in competitions? Have you received any awards?
No, but I hope to in the future.
No.
Early on I sumbitted to a few writers conference contest but now am just writing.
In the past I have recieved many rewards from writing competitions. I don't tend to enter them any more.
I have not seriously participated in competitions. There is no real reason for this. I have received an award for my poetry and intend to publish a book of poetry in the future.
Before I was published I entered several contests to get my work in front of editors. I was a finalist in the Golden Heart competition, which is prestigious in the romance world and may have helped get me noticed.
I'm not competitive by nature. I don't see the point of win/lose. I prefer win/win. No, I don't enter competitions. The only awards I've received are comments from readers which, I have to say, have been extremely positive.
When a stranger writes me and says that reading one of my books has changed his life for the better, then that's the only award I need.
I don't participate in competitions I don't see any point.
I don't participate.
Yes, and yes. One year I was a 'Queen of Crime'; that was the best! I've subsequently also been a 'princess'. But I've won heaps of other awards both for my short stories and also my novels, most notably (twice) the Society of Women Writers biennial book award in the Y/A category.
I arrange Poetry Slams. Some.
Well, beyond speech and debate competitions in high school, no! And I haven't received any official rewards, although having read some of my work at inter-kindred gatherings and had the rapt attention of those present, I consider that great reward. Any time someone is able to have their spirit nourished through my work, I feel I have received an award.
However, I would very much like to see the throwing down of a gauntlet when it comes to heathen poetry, with the collection of pledges (just as with a marathon and so forth), so that poets might begin to receive --- for good work --- at least a reflection of the kinds of compensations they might receive in the old days, when a well-delivered poem could win a poet even an estate! Obviously that is something that will have to be worked up to, but it's a good goal to work towards.
I do. But none yet. Wish me luck.
I have not participated in competitions I would like to but never make deadlines etc. In the future I will!
I won an award for best non-fiction with my first book. And I have just submitted a screenplay, ABUSE OF POWER, to a competition, SCRIPTAPALOOZA. |
