Does reader feed-back help you?

Whohub

Yes. I don't always know what will make sense to readers. My girlfriend in particular is very good at telling me when I am not being clear. Positive feedback helps me know I am moving in the right direction while negative feedback helps me know when I have wandered off the path.

It's flattering to receive positive feedback...not so much when the response is negative; but unless the readers are offering specific examples of what didn't work and why, no feedback from the casual reader doesn't tend to have much impact on how or what I write.

Not usually.

Ironically, I learn the most when readers tell me what they DON'T like. It helps me to improve my writing skills.

I belong to a couple of writer groups and the feedback helps to point out the strengths and weaknesses in my work.

Always. Sometimes I write so fast I might forget something. The feed-back helps me fill in the gaps.

Yes, keeps me on my toes - lets me know I still make sense to the outside world :)

Yes to an extent, but sometimes feed-back can be conflicting in its advice....one reader may really think you've nailed a situation or a character and that makes you feel good then another reader comes along and can't see what you're getting at. Result ? You just have to go with your gut-feeling about it in the end.

Definitely, and I love every feedback. It helps me see what they like and hate in my writing.

Condiderably when it's done in a constructive way. I found out that the negitive critisim at times has helped me more than the positive.

Yes, it helps out with my grammar, also helps by feed back to improve a plot in a better way. Or by not dragging out a curtain character.

I love reader feedback, but it isn't helfpul to me in the sense that I use reader feedback in any way for my writing.

I've always felt that reader criticism is more of a distraction than anything. If the critics had such great ideas, they'd be writing them down!

I don't get much reader feed back.

I live for reader feedback. It's part of the motivation for writing.
