Does reader feed-back help you?

Whohub

Definitely. I welcome feedback on my writing - particularly constructive criticism. Unless you're a needlework teacher . . .

Yes.
"No man is an island". Only a bad writer would be arrogant enough to think they don't need a second opinion.

Yes, it does. It spurs me on and encourages me.

Absolutely. I want to know what readers think and I want them to be frank about their criticisms.

NO! I think it is my story and my world so how can someone else tell me how to improve it. I don't mind advice from other writers if they have a proven track record or I like their work.

Sometimes it helps but I really do not depend upon the reader’s feedback. The more feedback the more point of views which decreases the decisiveness needed to complete the work.

Only when it's complimentary.

It always helps. It lets me know where my mistakes are and what needs touching up. Script tweaking is what I call it.

Most definitely. I like to know what my readers think about my writing good and bad. A writer that can't take constructive criticism needs to quit writing and find something else to do.

Feedback in invaluable. Most writers constantly think about their stories even when they're away from their computers, and one of the most difficult techniques in writing is transferring what we see in our heads to the paper. Since we 'see' it, we assume that we've accurately described a situation, an emotion, so the reader can 'see' it as well, but that's not always true. A reader can point where we need more work.

Sometimes if they are gracious as I am in writing.

I love getting feedback and input from readers. My goal is always to encourage and enlighten and when someone tells me what I wrote helped them in some way or they learned something they didn't know, it is extremely encouraging and gratifying. When they raise questions or disagree with something, it is equally helpful since most likely I never saw it from that perspective.

It depends on the reader. My favorite critics are children...and a couple of my editors.

Only if the reader is someone whose own writing I admire. My friends and family are too biased.

Yes and no. When it is done out of true help yes. If done for nastiness or jealousy no.
