It's a very different skill and who knows whether people think you a genius or a bore.

Yes. I do a great deal of public speaking and the feedback I get from these is always positive.

From our initial email right through to our Zonta International Womens Day Breakfast, Kay Danes would have to have been the most willing and helpful guest speaker that we have ever had the pleasure to organize. Kay helped contributed enormously to the breakfast by contacting many media avenues such as newspapers and radio stations not to mention her connections with Rotary and other notable charities. I have been told by many of my peers that I can describe in my words (orally) scenes that they can visualise clearly in their heads. I walk away leaving them with indelibly stamped images, characters, scenes and adventures in their mind's eye.
I suck horribly at telling stories orally. Especially if I don't have anything to reference or use. I tend to avoid it, because I always mess it up. If I could somehow train myself to get better, than I would attempt to tell stories more often.
Honestly, no I'm not. I can't tell a story orally. I'm a bit bad at that because I usually go on the story from A to Z and I would really explain(horribly, I might add), this tends to get people agitated with me for they would want to know what is really happening straight to the point.
If I wing it, yes. If I'm telling an established story? Working on it.

I'm probably better at speaking my stories ... I am an arm flailer (is that even a word??) and my eyes get all big as spittle flies from my lips. hee hee.

Well, I'm a decent liar, anyway.
Better because I do voices well and I am very expressive. I performed comedy improv for years. |
