I admire a handicapped man like Stephen Hawking for doing things which healthy people cannot do. He is one of my idols.
Other writers I admire are:
Charles Dickens
Thomas Hardy
Tulsidas, who wrote the Ramayan in the language of the low caste people
Vyasadeva, composer of the Vedas.
Stephen Knapp, famous Vedical writer
David Frawley, famous Vedical writer
Linda Johnson, wrote the book ‘idiot’s guide to hinduism’
Ian Stephenson, for doing deep research during twenty years about reincarnation. At the end his source manuscript consisted of about 20 000 pages, wow what a massive energy and work.
Ramanujan Shrinivasu, poor tamil mathematician and natural born genius, wrote thousands of formulas and had a fundamental believe in a specific Hindu goddess. He died poor and young in a Britisch Hospital during the Second World War.
Max Allan Collins
James Nelson, Timothy Zahn, Robert Jordan, Neil Gaiman, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Tracy Hickman, Margaret Weiss, R.A. Salvatore
Prose: Vivian Van Velde, Scott Westerfeld, Stephenie Meyer, Harper Lee, Daniel Pink, Meg Cabot, Lauren Myracle... the list could really go on and on.
Zakes Mda, E.V. Cunningham, and Chinua Achebe, and well, Myself. (laugh).
I have enjoyed all of Richard Bachs work and Alan Cohen. Of course I like Ike Eisenhauer too. I enjoy biographies of all sorts however, they are mostly ghost written.
Gloria Steinem, Ekhart Tolle, Barack Obama. Many obscure writers.
Too many to list, any writer that wows me with a story.
None. You do not know what comes from ghostwriters, editors, assistants, marketing people, or whoever, so admiring an author is a misplaced emotion. I resent personality cults of any kind.
I pick up books by topic, not author.
Frank McCort, Sofia Kinsley, Stephen King, of course!
Many writers, John Grisham, Joe Wambaugh, Tim Lahaye, Rick Warren and many others.
Brad (Scarface) Jordan
Patricia Cornwell, Nelson De Mille, David Morrell, David E Meadows, Dale Brown, Mary Stewart, James Webb, Edward Rutherfurd, Patrick Robinson, Stephen Coonts, Tom Clancy.
I wish I could write like Anne Tyler. She makes it seem so effortless, and you instantly fall in love with her characters.
I love some of the classics and there is none better than John Steinbeck. He just makes you feel for the characters, and he makes the scenery so vivid it's just right there in your mind.
I am a passionate fan of both Stephen King and Dean Koontz, and read everything they put out. I wish I could write that prolifically. I do know I am getting better at "writing scary" and that is probably due to paying attention to what these two guys do.
Janet Evanovich, Sarah Strohmeyer and Ann Ross are some of my favorite writers and I think my own is in a similar vein. . .slightly madcap but amusing.
I could go on: I love both Kellermans (Jonathan and Faye), Sue Grafton, Patricia Cornwell, Alice Hoffman, John Standford, John Irving, Joe Coomer, James Patterson, Terry McMillan, Dennis Lehane. Those are just some of my favorites that immediately come to mind and I've probably left off someone important. | | |
