What voice do you find most to your liking: first person or third person?

Whohub

First, but that's not to say that one can be better than the other. My books are first person but the screenplay is not and I'm finding that just as interesting.

Depends on the piece, I guess. I tend to write third person, if mostly to avoid some embarrassing revelations.

I rather like writing in the first person, but the third is less constrained.

Third person.

Third person. It gives me an opportunity to see through all my characters and paint them well to my readers. To me the first person gives a partial account - you rely only on one person and what he/she is told.

First person. Though, there are times when third person is nececessary if the main charecter is unable to explain the circumstances.

First person. This is my natural voice and works best for my kind of writing.

That depends entirely on the story. In murder mysteries I use first person in the CD Grimes mysteries and Third person in the Nick Story mysteries. In SciFi I use whatever fits the character being featured. In non-fiction (and exaggeration of true events) it is third unless I am involved.

I like third person writing

I've been trying hard to master first person more. It seems natural when telling a story to want to narrate it but it feels better to show the story. Especially when its an essay or memoir piece.

I use third person voice for all my writings, but I admit I've always wanted to write a story in first person. Maybe someday...

I prefer first person, which is why I stick to plays and poetry.

I wrote "The Execution of Justice" in first person, then tried re-writing it in Third-Person. First Person seemed to fit best. I will continue the series in First Person, but who knows what will happen to change.

It depends on the genre of the story. A narrative is best described with a subject pronoun such as "I". If the writer does not intend for the story to be a biography then use of the third person is appropriate to describe a character.

I do prefer the first person. Third can be interesting, but I've always been more of an exhibitionist versus a voyeur.
