What voice do you find most to your liking: first person or third person?
I let the story choose the voice in which it wants to be told. Some stories just work better in first person than third, and I never question the story, but allow it to tell itself.
It depends on the concept. Some themes work best with 1st while some flow better with 3rd. I write mostly screenplays and the visual sense of the 3rd is most prevalent in that form.
Personally, I like third person because I enjoy getting into everybody's head, but with my latest novel, Talk to Me, I had to write the story from the man's point of view and it worked! Noel Richardson was deaf and it was his story in the first half.
With Guilty of Love, I had many colorful characters who demanded I share their opinions. I wrote that in third person as well as the rest of the series.
I enjoy third person the most because I like to understand what the other main characters are feeling, too. With first person, you only know what one person feels.
First person
Besides some poetry I haven't written in first person yet, but I'm planning on it. Both my novels are written in third person. I'm planning on writing a memoir called 'Becoming American'. Of course this one will be written in first person.
I think writing in second person is a cool twist I'd like to try sometime in the future.
First person.
Third
It depends on what is happening in the story, mostly third person unless it is a flash back than it is first person.
I like both but if I had to choose I'd say first person. It's easier to get thoughts onto a page that way.
Always third person because its what I like to read.
3rd person. I like the idea of telling a story from an omnipotent observer so the reader can get insight into the character whithout having to make deductions all the time.
Third person is easiest and I do it the most. My latest book (not for kids) is first person and owwww... it's harder and it bites, but it's probably going to be my best work yet.
Third person best. It combines elements of both perspectives and works fluidly when done right.
