I read THE MIAMI HERALD, THE NEW YORK TIMES, THE NEW YORK POST, THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS, TIME and NEWSWEEK for daily local, national and international news.
I read at least one, sometimes two novels a week by my favorite authors. They just happen to be crime and mystery novels.
I get most inspired from good, solid writing where the author has done their research and I can lose myself in the story. The two authors that inspire me the most are Dean Koontz and James Rollins. If I need inspiration, they are the ones that I can pick up one of their books to help get the creativity going.
I love to read most anything, from Harry Potter to Steven King. Most of the time my inspiration comes from the world around me. I am an avid people watcher. You would be amazed at the stories that can be inspired by a trip to the grocery store.
Something fast and encaptivating, like action. As long as it's a good read, I'll read it. That's what I try to put into my work.
Mostly third-perspective, and narrative reading. Personnaly, that helps my to get inspired. Also if I'm writing a story with a certain genre, I like to read a story with the same genre in it.
I believe that any writing, either non-fiction or fiction, should tell a story. When I read a book, I first try to discern if there is a good story or not. If there is, the book will continue to hold my attention such that i wish that I want to keep reading until I finish it.
I read different types of novels and I love talking to people. I recently spoke to a couple of gentlemen who told me how their life was back in Trinidad and Tobago in the forties. I had an idea of a novel I wanted to write and after listening to them, I knew in what direction the story would drift to. This novel however won't be completed for years to come because I need to take time to research, but it was excited finally having a story line to do.
My love of the arts really inspires me. I love music and movies; I love to paint, draw and take pictures; I also write poetry and I love, love, love to travel. I will be moving to Heidelberg, Germany in May (2009) and I'm looking forward to all the creative ideas I will acquire. My novels are mostly about love, but I make the situations real. I write about things that I like and depict that into the characters. My writings will show that people fall in and out of love with any situation given to them. They overcome these situations and they share their trials and joys with the ones they love. I like to emphasis on black love because it is not always depicted in the movies of now-a-days. Hopefully my novels with turn into movies someday. | | |
what inspires me to write is a touching moment, for instance my book was produced because someone in the family got sick. I created this series to help sick children, health children, children with sick loved ones around the world. My work is done with the inspiration of helping others and making people feel joy in their hearts while they read my work.
The Bible, both as the oldest historical record and a book that contains the gamut of human drama. This book is a wealth of wisdom and my inspiration to write.
Anything that is well written. It throws down a gauntlet in a matter of speaking.
When I read a well written poem, composition, novel, even a cook book, I remember how proud I am to be an author and I get the "itch" to write.
Reading newspapers really gets me fired up. That old cliche about truth being stronger than fiction sticks for a reason.
Science Fiction, Fantasy, Supernatural stories - the kind that just take me on a wild ride, so to speak. I love evocative and daring flights of fantasy that stir me up both emotionally and imaginatively.
Reading does not inspire me to write. Reading is something I do when I don't feel like writing. My inspirations come from life.
When I read true stories from history I think about the people and personalities behind the facts and want to delve deeper. What were their thoughts, loves, and passions? Also, Bible reading and study brings many precepts to explore in a good story. It is the best seller of all time after all.
It's actually not other books that inspire me to write. What actually urges me to create something, is my favorite kind of music. Some kinds of music just make me want to go out and do something awesome! |
