What is your creative process like? What happens before sitting down to write?

Usually, I get an idea, but it doesn't develop until I start writing. The story takes shape as I type, as if the characters are leading me through the story.

My creative process is anarchic. I try to write when I can, not just when I am inspired to do so. I try to think through each scene or each piece of writing, word by word, sentence by sentence, looking for a jump off point or a point of reference that will ground the scene in my imagination.

I come up with the idea, develop the scenario, add in the characters and then write the action. The actual writing part is the easiest bit for me.

I have a marble notebook with facts if I had to do research and good lines if I had thought any. A can of soda is key.

I must have been inspired for what next to write and when to start. I relax and visualise the setting to be applied and then start to write. I do better when I start to feel excited about what I was about to write.

Much of the time I will begin with sort of 'daydreaming' the story, working out in my head details about characters' appearances, settings, situations and even dialogue, allowing it all to gestate, sometimes for weeks, before committing any of it to the keyboard. I am apparently very scatterbrained and it is not uncommon for me to be composing new segments of three different novels concurrently, and this in addition to songs, lesson materials and other things, depending on how and when I am motivated. At times I will write for half an hour at a time; at other times it will be upwards of eight or ten hours at a stretch, usually going way into the night towards dawn (I have been a 'night owl' since 9th grade). I will compose in whatever section of a given project I think of, and thus as a part of editing I have to infuse each of these with an imposition of plot and an overall theme to make it work as a whole.

Though it sounds unwieldy this is actually very economical for someone with my thought processes; because there will come a time when something like three novels are all done within a few weeks of each other and can hit the market like some kind of firestorm. At least that's the idea.

I like to think through a subject before writing about it. Often great creative moments come during sleepless nights or in the shower in the morning!

Before I sit down to write I have the title and an idea of who the characters are and what I want to happen. Then I put my pencil to paper and the story takes a life of its own.

An IGENESIS CREATION of artistic free speech expression. I do a little thought organization then I free hand or type until my creation is finish.

My creative process is like any other job. I don't have any weird quirks. I have to walk at least 2 miles everyday and eat very healthy, but mostly I just work at it.

It depends if I have a clear idea in my head, or if I am starting from scratch. Normally it takes a vivid image or scenario to spark off my creative flow, and once I have this I can often write for hours on end.

I find with novel writing planning is essential. If I don't have a plan I can get so far, but I do inevitably get stuck at a certain point. I think it's important to have an idea of the ending and how to get there, because then you know where you're going with it.

I don't always start at the beginning. I see writing as a jigsaw. I write the various episodes that take place in the novel and then put them together, filling any gaps. Whenever I have an idea I jot it down as soon as I can while it's still fresh in my mind. If it's not a convenient moment I note down the basics, and aim to write it down in more detail at the next available moment.

Depends. Can be that I have to write about something, that I have an urge to deal with certain subject, something is an image from a dream, or its plot, or its sensation. Or can be something that appears suddenly in my mind, depends of the genre, the occasion. Sometimes you write first in your head. Sometimes what counts is the rhythm of the physical act of writing, etc.

Most often my process begins with a single word and then I take it for a walk, literally. I love to walk my way into a story or a poem or a class idea.

From my gut. I literally just have something hit me, and then I write on it. Sometimes I will research to get some points across, but more often than not, specifically for my current position, when something hits me that affects my judgment, I tend to take that topci and write on it shortly, if not, immediately thereafter.

I write my poetry spontaneously. It starts with an idea and then the poetry comes gushing out almost faster than I can write.
