Do you enjoy post-production, or do you prefer to leave that in the hands of other professionals?
I'm a producer as well as a writer/director, so I have to be involved with everything whether I like it or not. Post can be a major headache unless you're working with people who know the project and are driven to make it great. When you have a good team, it's sometimes better to let them work. But it's important to have benchmarks that you hold them to no matter what. Accountability is vital to making something good.

Film is a collective undertaking, best achieved with single-minded vision. I prefer to collaborate by expressing my intent and allowing others to contribute their own skills and experience.

Yes I enjoy it and consider it one of the creative avenues of expression in filmmaking.
In the heat of it I have strange editing dreams where my mind is a computer.

I love to have final say on the editing. The second thing I learned was how to edit and the editing is a powerful entity so I love to be involved in the editing process.
I love being in the postproduction. I watch it closely untill the end.
Love it - the hours disappear on you. The intensity of the concentration is EVERYTHING.
I love post-production...editing, sound scoring, everything. But you've gotta get the other stuff done first before you get into post, so it's sort of a given that the whole process is enjoyable.
I edit my work myself because for me it's re-writing the script. I really enjoy post.
I do enjoy post productions but I also need experience professionals to advice on hand since the technology keeps progressing and changing. I learn to leave the responsibility of post production to the experts since in the earlier days I would be a control freak and wanting to know all and decides every single detail. And the problem with the latter is sometimes I might be wrong and I would missed out better solutions. |
