MOVIES-TV
Do you enjoy post-production, or do you prefer to leave that in the hands of other professionals?
I like to hand it over to professionals but I love to be there in the whole process and tell them all I want so we don't have to make a lot of changes.
I like working with editors who love telling stories. I'd prefer giving the editor some artistic space. Directors might get too clouded and focused on certain elements that the he might not see another side of the story. Having an editor with fresh eyes can really inject magic into your story. Then the tango of director and editor can happen afterwards. I'm very hands on up until the color grading and details on effects. At the end of the day, it has to serve the story.
It's actually probably my favourite bit of the production! It's where all the months of hard work comes together, and the movie really starts to shape up.
There's just as many bad editors as there is good. Like Rodriguez said, those who learn the technical side too, get more freedom, control. I enjoyed learn the post. Filmmaker really is becoming an art form now because it's down scaled. Move making with crews from 10-300 is not an art form. Its constructing a collaborative product, ride. I like the fact I can almost have the control of a painter with a single brush
I'm very hands-on during post, with special emphasis on Sound Design. But, as is my way, I prefer to hire people I trust and respect and then allow them to do their jobs with little to no interference, and definitely without my "micro-managing" their workflow.
I am a master in post.
Always been collaborative so enjoy having a part in this too - though as I said I'm from a theatre background. But I love the craft of editing.
i love post production as much as i love production.
I enjoy post-production and the entire process. |
