Make a prediction: how long will the fashion of piercing and tattoos last?
We've been doing it for millions of years - so I think we will continue to do so for many more to come....
My prediction is that tatoos will last forever. Piercing I predict will fade out.
It is almost passe now and at the same time a taboo.
I don't think it will ever completely go out of style as it is derived from tribal beginnings.

I do not feel that either will ever go away both tattoos and piercing are ingrained in our past so I feel will continue in the future.
Sadly, it will always be around. Rebellion is a big part of the fashion culture.
ha! As I stated previously, I see them gaining more acceptance. Doctors, lawyers, teachers, everyone's getting tattooed or pierced, and more businesses and jobs are beginning to accept it. I hope that this momentum keeps up, however, I hope that people who have turned Ed Hardy's designs into vomit on a tshirt, soon run out of followers.

Piercing and Tattoos are no longer as taboo as they once were! Now, they're not so much of a fashion statement as a way of personal expression.
My prediction on how long the fashion of piercings and tattoos will last, is dependent on how long people will follow the goth movement. Goth is going to play a consistent role in fashion as for now the early 90's is in effect, and set to stay for the next few years. I believe the piercings and tattoos will play a prominent role for the next 2 years. For some reason it appears that the tattoos and piercings are there to leave room for imagination and edge. As long as people will want to play edgy roles in their career, I feel there will be an advancement of tattoos and piercings.
I don't think that piercings and tattoos are a new trend or a trend at all. I think they are a form of expression for some people which most of the time is anti-trend. I personally do not agree with them but everyone is different and has different ways of expressing their personalities. Some do it only through clothes other feel the need for more permanent marks on their bodies such as tattoos. I personally recommand thinking twice about it as something that seemed young and hip at one time might look vulgar and distasteful at another point in time, and unlike clothes, tattoos are not easily dispensable.
In Japan tattoos are not accepted in public and this won't change. But in the states I guess tattos will last forever. Piercing seems to last everywhere
Not really sure. For those of us with tattoos and piercings it will be around till the last one of us is gone. It will all depend on the publicity if the new generations join in. It may become as uncool as smoking, but time will tell. |
