How did you begin to develop your talent? Have you possesed it since you were a child?
I have always been geared towards serving people. I think it comes from being the oldest of 5 girls -I was the designated babysitter from early on. It carried on latter in life and throughout my career as a medical professional, the sense of care and good customer service/ experience was something I was always praised for. In the USAF in fact, I was awarded numerous awards and recognition for my outstanding customer service and attention to detail.
My family is artistic, in every expression of art be it music, painting, craft or design. I was five years old when mother taught me to knit and to embroider. My grandmothers were adept at sewing elegant clothes, knitting, crochet, tatting and embroidery. I opted for an applied arts college education after seeing an interior design exhibit from the art department in school, and attending a fashion show there that left me speechless.
I was always into clothes especially as a teenager. I always looked at magazines and old books from the 20's and 30's. I was so intrigued by that era, still am
Growning up in Vienna, Austria, I was surrounded not just by great food but also by great beauty - so I guess I was born into it. I started watching and helping my mother as a little girl and as a teenager even went to the same cooking school that she had gone to as a young woman. I have always loved the creativity of cooking - it just makes me happy - I also love making others happy with the results of my cooking. To me food is love - spread the love!!
My design talent was from my own desire to learn to sew in 1995. I minored in Fashion Merchandise and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. I had one basic course in sewing construction. It wasn't the best learning experience at first. Own my own personal time I purchased my own sewing equipment. In no time at all with Sewing By Nancy video seminars I was able to sew from a pattern really well. I found myself doing cute outfits for my son and my sister's newborn daughter at the time. I then formed my own sewing company in 1999. I then upgraded with learning and designing the actual pattern and grading expertise to construct my own original pieces in 2004.
I started doing my friends hair in the 6th grade. I loved it as a creative outlet. It spilled over into my time in Drama and show choir. Early on in my life I knew it was something I wanted to do as a career.
My talent developed early as a child. I would always focus on cutting and styling my dolls' hair. I would often experiment haircutting and styling my own hair thus having friends request the same. As a lover of art, I excelled in art class and was referred to a gifted art program at age 11.
I've been creating since I was a child. Obtaining my design degree allowed me to hone my skills. I am always developing my talents still, constantly exploring new textures, materials, colors, styles...
I started sewing when I was 5.
I've love to dress stylish since I was a child. I knew how to create outfits and work with color at a young age. People would always tell me i have a great sense of style. They usually ask for fashion advice. I was also very shy as a child. So i would always try to dress nice because i know people would give me complements and that would break the ice.
perhaps :-)
i like art and to tinker and sew and decorate everything since i´m a child.
Since I was four years old I have been in love with fashion. I would dress my friends up, in my mothers clothes, and hold fashion shows in my family room.
I have been in this industry, like i said, for nine years. Although i've been told that i've had it since i was but a wee bit high.
yes! i have always loved fashion and used to style people in my head when i was in my teens. also i can remember outfits people wore that i liked or that stood out to me, from way back in my childhood.
Yes, when I was a child I'd love to play in my grandmom house, she is a dress maker.
I started to read fashion magazine and cut the picture I liked. So I start to develop my fashion taste. |
