STYLING

How did you begin to develop your talent? Have you possesed it since you were a child?

Every stage in my life gave me opportunities to develop myself, both professional as well as personal. I like to show people that they have tremendous creative gifts to use and explore. It is rewarding to see how people like to express themselves more and more.

I absolutely did not have my style skills as a child. I developed them over time. Especially with style, it was really an organic process. I'm just interested in clothing and image, and how you can change people's perceptions of you.

Glad you said since I was a child...yes! Personal style has been apart of my life as long as I can remember. I used to be in awe of the clothes/accessories my elementary school teachers wore, my great grandmother...I can't think of a time where it wasn't on my mind.

I’ve been in fashion, beauty & style expert business over a dozen years times two. But if you think about it, I’ve really been in fashion since the day I was old enough to remember.

My professional career spans three decades from a variety of vantage points in the New York fashion industry. It is based on my childhood desires to simply not look chubby (even as a small size 4 there was a fat kid lurking inside) and to wear the best clothes that flattered my curvy figure.

My mom had a black belt in shopping and taught me everything I know about quality and finding bargains. She was a shopping guru long before it became a buzzword!

I developed my skill using a hands on approach. I was always artistically inclined as a child so once I mastered the use of the clippers I implemented my artistic eye.

I don't recall ever thinking "I want to be a make up artist" though I was totally absorbed in all the artistic subjects at school. When I was little I was always making something out of nothing in particular; pieces of cardboard, plastic cups and tape were my favourite toys. I went on to study Public Relations at university and started out as a stylist/publicist for a fashion PR company, which is how I became involved with make up. I'd definitely say I'm a creative person but I'm also incredibly organised and I crave structure too.

Nope. I read magazine a lot.. And start collecting fashion books now.. Am watching runways and shows to see their styling.. And of course stealing some ability while assisting my mentor, Thornandes James.
