How do you individualize your teaching? How do you handle the different ability levels of students in classes?
I have been known to have 6 lesson plans for 1 lesson. Nowadays there are classroom assistants and others to help out.The abilities are usually assessed by others and each child comes with written targets. With adults I work out their needs and targets with them.
I think you need to come out of the book. Look at the objectives. i believe you teach students what they need-so if I find a problem most of them have, I will address the problem in class irrespective of the syllabus. personalisation is key. I tend to make the lesson content personal to the students, so I develop my own materials for them. They always find this more interesting, of course!
Take the time to find out what makes each individual tick. Yes, I know that's a big ask but it's the only way. Different ability levels - use multi-layered communciation strategies. All this makes teaching a much harder task but we're never really thinking about teaching anyway, it's about learning.
Students do much collective group work
and share common grades but also must speak and write in their uniquely individual voices.
Its complex. A short answer is difficult.
I always making extra worksheet which have higher level so i still can handle the lower one
Everyone is on different spiritual levels. I have learned to adjust to that when I teach. There are ways to speak to those still on milk and those who are on meat at the same time and still get the point across.
I think that every teacher individualizes his teaching according to his life experience. The more experience the teacher has in his private international living relations the more he has to tell, and the more the students get interested in the argument.
Usually I use half the time of a lesson teaching, and the other half of the time I have them teach me what they have just learned, this way the slower students have a chance to catch up learning from the faster students.
The secret is having the same lesson repeated many times in different wasy so that they discover and learn new things each time they hear it without being bored.
I individualiza my teaching to refer to the plane course, and outline
I individualize my teaching according to the amount of repitition a student needs. Even easy repitition can help a slow student catch up if he is repeating good material. I have small enough classes that I can let faster students go at their own pace till they have a question while I can help a younger or slower student with more explanation or more practice. We do use video flash cards and audiobooks. Our model is much like the American one room school house.
I neve talk down to my students but challenge them to come up to the level I expect of them. Some students can't or don't make the effort, and they just don't do well. Others, however, respond to the challenge and try harder than they have previously.
Planning. Use of peer tutors. Planning. Preparation before class (at home)
Each teacher is distinct and has a unique personality. Same pattern of teaching will not be following the same pattern.I will try my own methods for teaching, of course, conforming to the laid down syllabus. I will also try out metthod which I have found to be useful in my own education.
Just as teachers are having different proficiency levels, the students also have different proficiency levels. While students who are highly capable can pick up things quite fast, weaker students will need special attention. A teacher will have to handle both types of students in the same class.
I will use my ingenuity in dealing with different ability levels of students.
I thinkmy teaching is effective !
I try my best to make it as simple as possible. The best methode I adopt and which I found very effective is that , I explain every simple dout which I had when I was a fresher. I hv noticed that about 90 - 95 % of the students have the same doubts .
Letting students direct their own learning and learn at their own pace, with frequent assessments to track their progress. |
