Artists are not for sale, One might admire a piece of work and buy it, however, the genius of the Idea belongs,forever, to the Artist!

Neither. The artist deserves recompense for their time and materials, but it is never proportional to the time and effort involved. It is an honorarium, nothing more. Fortunately for some, it can be a generous honorarium. : ) I wish more artists valued their work appropriately.
The artist keeps evolving with time, so the work purchased may have a bit of that artist mind from that time the art work was done.
If you are lucky! I love to find that I have a collector whom loves the work because it came from me, not just the piece itself.
Art is never been about money.
It is the work that is bought, a distant reflection of the artista.
It is the work that is purchased as the artist can simply make the piece again and if it is copied it is only a copy and not a true masterpiece like the artist would have created
I don't think the artist is bought, just the expression.
That depends on the seller and the buyer and their individual intentions and purposes.
I can say, however, each painting of mine is freely given a part of me - a part of who I am.
It should be a work of art that is purchased, for the love of it, for the beauty of it, for how it makes you feel, but many people will buy anything by a certain famous artist, either because they think it will be an investment or that it is the 'right' thing to do.
