|Is a work of art purchased, or is it better said, that it is the artist who is bought?
Sorry you can buy my art, I ain't for sale.
Art becomes a separate entity from the artist when created.
What??? Who came up with these questions?
They buy the art, nobody buys me. I keep on dancing to my own rythm and spreading my art.
Two different things with no correlation.
I may put my heart and soul into my artwork, but that piece of artwork is never the only essence of me. It is the work of art that's purchased. I spread all over the world energetically. I cannot be bought. I am freely given.
the artist. the artist live a vicarious life through his art and sells himself.
It really depends on the sale. If you are selling individual pieces, the art is being sold. If you do work for a larger client (advertising for example), it is the artist that is being sold. It is not wrong for an artist to "sell out," it's how we make our big break; without having to die first.
Hang my art not me, get wrapped in my T-shirts and listen to what my words and sounds instigate. My expressions are loud and have been manifesting in obscurity for way too long.
The buyer has invited the artist into his life through the piece of art that he bought.
purchasing a art work is promoting the art movement. it will help the growth of artist and art also.
Whichever makes the buyer happy. I don't think too much about those things.
It should be the art itself, as every artist has good and bad periods of production.
Are we all the same?
If the artist releases the work, it is no longer a part of that person... the work then is purchased, NOT the artist, tho it is more in vogue to state you own "......insert artists name....". We do not own our own selves much less another.
