|Is a work of art purchased, or is it better said, that it is the artist who is bought?
I think both are true. Artists with unusual technique or who have a strong identity through their artwork most often then not are favored personally by their patrons beyond their creative pieces.
Hopefully it isn't the artist who is bought. I'd really like to think it's a piece of their personality. I can admit there have been some not-so-nice people with great art. I'd like to think I'm just buying their art, in that case.
I would say the artist is an investment on our future artist. It is not bought or sold everything e pay into is an investment on its sustainability in our future.
A particular piece is purchased and with it goes a piece of the artist.
That depends entirely on the intent of the purchaser. The authentication of a work of art is not incumbent upon the creators name assigned to it, but rather is validated by virtue of what it does for those who see something to be desired. I have seen many a work of art which I did not consider being "master pieces" for which I would not pay a cent, nor would I even contemplate hanging it in my home. I have also seen many a work of art for sale at a flea market offered for a measly amount; the likes of which I would have thought suitable to be hung in the finest museums the world over.
No. That's a poor perception of art. Artists are not martyrs.
The work is bought, not the artist. Boundaries please. You do not own the baby, you just raise it.
The artist cannot be bought, he gives himself in his work. Bussines is far from real art. But...
That question is too deep for me.
I bought a painting recently. I didn't buy the artist.
Both, I think. sometimes a work is bought because it speaks to the buyer. As that piece becomes more intimate with the new owner, the owner starts to learn about the artist who created it. Sometimes, it's the other way around. The buyer knows the artist first and then learns the details in the piece after they own it for a while.
If a work has been purchased, it will be the award of a work, but it depends on how the opinion of the artist
It depends how you feel after
both, buy buying that piece of art, part of that artist goes along with it!
