Is a work of art purchased, or is it better said, that it is the artist who is bought?
Huh, I never thought of it that way. I'd say it's the time and the talent of the artist that you're paying for.
They own the item with the 'moment of spirituality' in which the item has being 'fabricated'

I think both expressions are correct.
I guess we really never let go of our art so, in a way, we go with our work that is sold.

For me it's better to say that a work of art purchased, but for many investors it's the name that is important. most of them whant to be sure that the investment will be convertable later

Depends. If you are buying a painting of Picasso, than you have a "Picasso". If you buy a portrait of a lady, then you are purchasing the painting, because of the lady...
