ART

Is a work of art purchased, or is it better said, that it is the artist who is bought?

It is a single work that is bought at any one time.

I never really thought about it. When someone purchase my art, I feel honored and thank them for wearing or hanging my art, but in some ways I feel that they are wearing or hanging a part of my essence that was put into the piece, so I suppose both or either.

The answer to this question depends upon the artist. I would like to think that it is the art that is purchased for its aesthetic values, content, and technical execution. However, this is not an ideal world. Artists can be bought if they are not strong enough in their convictions of their own art. Such artists are those who give up their own ideals and personal aesthetic in order to please the public.

The work of art isn't being purchased. It is being shared. The artist isn't being bought. It is an idea, heart, soul, or visual literacy that touches the person who has bought the particular work.

A work of art by a specific artist is purchased.

I think it is a work of art that is purchased.

I think that it is the work of art that is purchase. Yes it is true that there is a piece of the artist in every work of art, but each piece is made for a different purpose. Some pieces are made just because while others are made for the sole purpose of being sold. Yes you are buying a piece of the artist, but I do not feel that the artist is being bought.

I would say a work of art is purchased.

I think the work of art is what is purchased because even though the work of art is the product of the artist, the artist makes many different works of art and they are all different so the artist himself is not bought.

I'm not sure what this question means. Is this implying that an artist may change his or her style for more money?

A work of art is purchased. The artist can never be bought for no one can truly understand the ideas, beliefs, thoughts and ideas that went into a piece of artwork.

Neither, its the SOUL of the artist who is bought. With each work, you see a bit of that artists' true being. So, you're in essence, buying a bit of that artist's soul.

Again this is heavily dependent on the context, but I would argue that a true artist is never bought, only the work.

Both, maybe the artist more so but i always like to think the person falls in love with the piece. But when someone purchases a painting they are buying the artist vision so in a way they are buying a slice of the artist mind.
