Does it pain you to let go of a piece you have sold?

Whohub

I won't say it makes me feel "pain" but you need say good-by.

Most of the time I will say "god yes" but there a some pieces which I dont consider my best works. In those instances I'm overjoyed that the piece found a home. Someone who will love it. Otherwise what am I to do with a piece that i feel didnt quite fill my expectations. My shelves only have so much space and I hate to see a piece destroyed. Even the bad ones. In those instances im very happy someone liked it. It might even be one of thier favorites and that makes me very happy.

ITS DEPENS FROM THE PRICE.

I NEVER SHEL MY FAVORITES

Occasionally. I learned not to sell the ones I didn't want to part with until I was ready to let them go because I'd done something I liked better. I only have so much wall space. lol

Every work sold is a blessing for which I am grateful.

I am thrilled to see my paintings sell, I know that when a piece sells, I have connected on some level to the buyer. I especially enjoy the personal exchange between the buyer and myself; having the opportunity to understand why or how a particular piece of artwork speaks to them.

There is a time when the piece has to be put out into the world. If it is too early, yes, it is a vey painful parting.

Yes

for this question I strongly agree with Hilda Hiary (Jordan based artist) that "After I finish the painting and sign it, it does't belong to me anymore. It's not mine. There's another place waiting for it. I just live with it while I'm doing it, and I like that feeling. Once it's gone, I can start again".

I remember how long it cost me to decide to make the first step to sale some piece of mine.
The only relief for me is the act that I made somebody happy.

a little

Yes.

No, because I have a mercantile sensibility. Finding a good home for a picture is a happy event. I can speak this way for I have a day job.

Some pieces I have to keep for a while before I can part with them.

On the contrary, it puts food on the table and creates space for new work to be done.
